Strictly is bringing many new things into my life – including becoming a columnist for the Radio Times. My first article about poker faces, Peter Andre and mirrored ballrooms is out in this week’s issue.

So began the most awkward, inhibited, cranky, gangly, loopy, rickety attempt at a group dance: and that was just me. At one point my left hand flew out and landed on Kirsty Gallacher’s right breast, like that moment with the Australian woman in Fawlty Towers. She gasped and I apologised.

    It’s great to see someone taking part in SCD who is so clearly having a wonderful time. I think you were very lucky to be paired with Karen, she seems to have the ability to teach and showcase her partners so well, I absolutely loved her with Dave Myers. If you can have as much fun as he so obviously did I’m sure you will go a long way. There seems to be so many celebs with dance experience this year, but I think the audience love to see the ‘novices’ progress. Don’t worry about the judges, just do your. best and be yourself Good luck in the coming weeks, you two are joy to watch.
